Increase your feed readers by offering “category feed”

Even if you have a quality blog and awesome posts, For your readers there can be only two reasons for not subscribing to your blog feed. Do you wonder what they are…?

• Your blog topic isn’t related to their interest. (these peoples never subscribe)
• Even if they like your blog, They may only want specific feed updates.

Confused? well! One Simple question, “Do your readers like all the categories in your blog?”

You may think that “That’s really a stupid question to ask”.

Let’s take up an example, Let’s consider you are having a Health related blog where you blog about Cancer, Fitness and Yoga.

Some peoples may like all your three categories, but some reader may wan’t to get updates only about Fitness or cancer or yoga, not all topics. So they may not subscribe for your feed.

If you have an option for your readers to subscribe on specific category, then you have a higher probability for them to subscribe for your blog updates.

What is the Feed url of a category?

First you must find the feed url of the category, Below URL is the sample feed url of a category in wordpress blogging platform

http://problogstar.com/category/blogging-tips/feed/

Guide:

[Your Category URL] –> http://problogstar.com/category/blogging-tips/

http://[Your Category URL]/feed/

Creating the Subscription option:

Once you have your feed url, just go and register the feed ulr with “Google FeedBurner”. That’s it, now you have a feed ready to burn.

Each and every subscriber who registered for this feed will get update only when a blog post is posted on that category. So they will get what they need and “Bing Bing Bingo!” you have a reader that you were just about loose…

Advantage: The greatest Advantage I see in this Category based feed subscription option is that,

1. You can find which topic of your blog attracts more readers.
2. You can concentrate more time on some categories which are failing to get readers attention.
